Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website. Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry. Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives. Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon. Click here to learn more about becoming a Christian. Listen to the "Light for Living" broadcast live on whvtfm.com Saturdays and Sundays at 4:00 pm.

Our Father 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our
Father which art in heaven, Hallowed
be thy name. September 11, 2001 began as any ordinary day for many Americans, including Todd Beamer. Yet, just as many other Americans were heading off to work, they listened on their car radios as the tragedies of the day were broadcast to unbelieving ears. In the midst of the crisis, Todd spoke with a 911 operator from aboard a doomed aircraft. Together they prayed the Lord’s Prayer, then he set off to do what he could for the good of his country. For Todd, the Lord’s Prayer was not simply a ritual or recitation of memorized words. His pastor had recently led their church through a series on this very subject. All of the deep truths of this model prayer were fresh in Todd’s heart and mind on that day. This has led me to a deeper study of the great truths we find in Matthew 6:9-13. Just the first two words of this great passage can lift our hearts and change our entire perspective on life. The words, “Our Father…” give us renewed hope and enthusiasm. Did you notice that Jesus did not say, “My Father?” Neither did he say, “Your Father.” He said “Our Father.” That tells me of the unique relationship the Christian has with Jesus Christ! Jesus is the elder brother that bridges the gap between us and the Father. Listen to what Paul says in Romans 8:16, 17. “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” Not only is He the Father, but He is our Father. These two words teach me the wonderful truth of the brotherhood of the saints with each other and with our Savior. How can we not find joy in our hearts, when we have the grand privilege of calling God our Father? Not everyone has this privilege. Jesus said to some of the most religious people in the world, “Ye are of your father the devil.” (John 8:44) This was true of them because they rejected Jesus Christ. Yet every one of us that has received Christ as our Savior can boast of having the most powerful Father in the world! Again in Romans 8, we find Paul rejoicing in this
truth. “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but
ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
The Hebrew word “Abba” is most easily and accurately translated,
“Daddy.” How loving and personal our relationship with Him is. Listen to how
Jesus explains this. “Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask
bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a
serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children,
how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that
ask him?” (Matthew 7:9-11) When a Christian prays, he ought to always remember that he is speaking to a caring, compassionate and powerful Father. Fathers do not always give us what we want. But a good Father always gives us what is best when it is right. You are the
